Allowing you to take calls and login to Skype conferences, the best wireless in ear headphones can be a great asset as you take care of business, workout, or even just relax. With all the options on the market, it can be hard to find the best Bluetooth earpiece that is not only comfortable but has the best sound quality. Here are a few tips on what to look for in the best Bluetooth headsets and a few reviews to help you start shopping.

At its current price tag, I have mixed feelings about the Tone Ultra HBS-800. In terms of both design and sound quality, it’s an improvement over its predecessors, so it deserves kudos. But the build quality, sound quality, and feature set aren’t such a leap forward that I could call this a good value, particularly when the existing HBS-730 sells for around $50 (in essence, this new LG Tone is competing with the old LG Tones). It also doesn’t help that I wasn’t impressed by the noise-canceling feature.

ROUND UP

The long and short of it is the LG Tone Ultra would ideally be priced somewhere in the $79-$99 range. Unfortunately, retailers like Best Buy and others take such a large cut on sales that manufacturers are forced to put elevated price tags on products when they make their initial retail runs (or the manufacturers risk making no money).

Range – You will find that most of the Bluetooth headsets on the market today are in the same range, so this shouldn’t be one of your top considerations.

USB Port – Bluetooth headsets that have a standard micro USB port are handy as they allow you to use a charger from your smartphone or tablet to charge your headset. This eliminates the need to carry around an additional charger.

Multiple Device Connection – Multi-point connectivity allows you to connect with one or multiple devices so you can connect your headphones to two devices at the same time.

Voice Control – If your hands are always busy, you may want to consider a headset that allows you to place calls or answer them with a simple voice command. This hands-free feature works well for those that don’t have a free hand to mess with buttons like an artist or chef.

WRAP UP

The noise-canceling button is pretty small but if you let your right finger drift toward along the right side of the neckband you’ll feel it. Switch it on and a voice tells you noise-canceling is engaged. The only problem is it doesn’t seem to change anything. I put on a fan a few feet from my ear and flipped the switch and noticed no difference.
