The Acer Nitro XV282K KVbmiipruzx is an excellent gaming monitor. It has a 4k resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate, and it’s one of the first monitors to include HDMI 2.1 inputs, so you can reach its full refresh rate over an HDMI connection. It has native FreeSync variable refresh rate (VRR) support, very quick response times, and low input lag for a responsive gaming experience.
The large 28 inch screen and 4k resolution help deliver crisp images and clear text. It has an IPS panel with wide viewing angles, meaning it has a low contrast ratio. There’s an edge-lit local dimming feature only enabled with HDR content, but it performs terribly and worsens the picture quality. Lastly, the monitor has fantastic ergonomics as you can swivel it a full 360 degrees on its round stand.

If a monitor can offer all these and get it right, then it is quite something (if you have the rig to make the most of all of the specs). Elsewhere, the XB273K gives you a good range of options within its menu to deploy those gaming specs, ranging from different gaming presets (Acer’s GameView options), to blue light settings you can adjust to save your eyes.
There is definitely enough here to rely on for plugging and playing, as well as creating a perfect setting yourself, whatever you’re into. The buttons to access the menu are easy enough to use, and the main stick makes it particularly simple to navigate. And the ports you have available increase your ability to either plug and go or adapt to your machines’ needs: an HDMI; DisplayPort and five USB 3.0 ports are at your service.

The LG 27GL83A-B is a very good monitor with a 27 inch, 1440p IPS screen. It delivers a great gaming experience with extremely low input lag, an outstanding response time, and a few great gaming features. It supports AMD’s FreeSync variable refresh rate technology (VRR), but it’s also certified by NVIDIA to support VRR from recent NVIDIA graphics cards.
It has wide viewing angles, good reflection handling, and very good peak brightness, so glare shouldn’t be an issue. As a more budget-oriented model, it has a pretty basic stand, with limited ergonomics and no RGB lighting. Although it supports HDR, this doesn’t really add much, as it can’t get bright enough to deliver a true HDR experience and has a low contrast ratio.

The number of 4K resolution monitors capable of 144Hz can be counted on the fingers of one hand. It is the pinnacle of gaming performance and some of the best gaming monitors. As such, these specs command premium pricing. And you’ll need an equally premium graphics card to drive nearly 8.3 million pixels at 144 frames per second (fps). Add HDR and extended color into the mix and you’re looking at a tremendous processing requirement.
The two best examples we’ve reviewed are the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ and Acer Predator X27, which both sit atop our Best 4K Gaming Monitors list. Along the bottom edge of the panel is a strip of glossy-black trim that holds five function buttons and a Power switch, and around back are an HDMI port, a DVI port, and a VGA port, as well as a headphone jack. As with many midrange monitors, the R240HY lacks USB ports and speakers.
