Looking closer, there are some chunky bezels around the screen and so it’s not the sleekest; it doesn’t get the same high score as others in the screen-to-bezel ratio category (though it’s good to keep in mind the price of the EL2870U here). Its lack of sleekness on the bezels as a whole is tempered somewhat by the brushed metal-gray bottom bezel, which also appears on the front ‘foot’ of the stand, which is a subtle, stylish touch.
The stand is a chunky but sturdy one and the only part which requires any construction: one thumb screw to attach the foot to the leg, and then it slides in the back of the monitor and is secured by a single screw to the monitor itself.

However, since this monitor is 28″ in size, and you’ll always be sitting directly in front of it when gaming, the viewing angles won’t be an issue.
Another aspect where TN panels fall short is color reproduction.
In comparison to other panels types, TN panels have the least vibrant and accurate colors; however, they have the fastest pixel response time speed; so it’s a fair trade-off if you’re into competitive gaming.
More importantly, thanks to the 4K UHD resolution, the image will be clear and sharp with vivid and clean details.
3.LG 27UK650-W
Features
- 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) 27 inch IPS Display
- HDR10 compatible; Viewing Angle 178/178 (CR≥10) (Typ)
- SRGB 99 percent Color Gamut
- AMD FreeSync technology
- HDCP 2.2 compatible
The LG 27UK650-W is a good monitor and will please you in most usages. It has wide viewing angles and the large screen gives you more space to work on. Also, the high resolution allows you to see small details. The monitor has HDR support but it fails to display a wide color gamut.
The LG 27UK650-W is a very good 27 inch, 4k IPS monitor with a low input lag for gaming and great SDR peak brightness. It has very good color accuracy, wide viewing angles, and a great resolution that will display every little detail. Although the monitor supports HDR, it doesn’t add much as it can’t display a wide color gamut. It’s more suitable for average-lit environments where it can handle glare well, and in dark rooms, blacks appear gray.
4.ASUS TUF Gaming VG289Q
Features
- 28-inch 4K (3840x2160) IPS DCI-P3 grade gaming monitor for stunning crisp and detailed visuals
- Compatible with industry-standard HDR10 high dynamic range for color and brightness levels that exceed the capabilities of ordinary monitors
- AMD FreeSync technology to eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates (supports both Adaptive-sync with AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards)
- Shadow Boost technology enhances image details in dark areas brightening scenes without over-exposing bright areas
- Flexible connectivity with DisplayPort 1 2 and HDMI (v2 0) x2 and features an ergonomically designed stand with swivel tilt pivot and height adjustments
Users looking for Ultra HD on the cheap no longer have to settle for a TN panel with a reduced feature set. The VG289Q proves that with a high-quality IPS screen, DCI-P3 color and HDR. And while it comes with FreeSync and isn’t Nvidia-certified as G-Sync Compatible, it ran G-Sync just fine in our tests (see how with our instructions on how to run G-Sync on a FreeSync monitor). Both Adaptive-Sync flavors worked with HDR and the display’s full color gamut.
The backlight is a flicker-free LED arrayed at the edge. There is no zone dimming or additional dynamic contrast available for HDR. You’ll see in our tests that the luminance range is about the same for both SDR and HDR content. The monitor displays all content content in the extended color gamut, which by our calculations runs around 80% of DCI-P3.
5.HP VH240a
Features
- RESOLUTION & PANEL — 23.8-inch Full HD monitor (1920 x 1080p @ 60 Hz) with 16:9 aspect ratio and an anti-glare matte IPS LED-backlit panel (2 million pixels, 16.7 million colors)
- RESPONSE TIME — 5ms with overdrive for a smooth picture that looks crisp and fluid without motion blur
- BUILT-IN SPEAKERS — Integrated audio speakers provide great sound for your content (2 watts per channel)
- THIN BEZEL-LESS FRAME — A thin and virtually frameless ultra-widescreen monitor provides a seamless multi-monitor set-up with 3-sided narrow bezels
- 4-WAY ERGONOMIC VIEWING — 90° rotation for horizontal (landscape) and vertical (portrait) viewing modes, adjustable height and tilt (-5° to 30°), and 178° positional viewing for the best quality at any angle
The 1000:1 native contrast ratio and 72% sRGB are industry standard for this tier of monitor. Yet, the great viewing angles that IPS technology offers makes this monitor look particularly good for the price.
Potential buyers should beware of HP’s limited warranty. Despite being in the minority, there are several online reports of units that malfunction after only a few months. Although we did not encounter any issues while testing the HP VH240a monitor, this deal is almost certainly worth some extra cash for a protection plan.
