1.ASRock ATX Motherboard

Features

OUR TAKE

The Z490 Taichi is an ATX motherboard with prominent heatspreaders that cover the bulk of its surface. More of the board is exposed around the CPU socket and RAM slots, but large sections nearby are covered by a pair of large heatsinks and the cooling and component bulk around the board’s rear I/O shroud.

These bits of metal help with cooling the board’s vital power-regulation hardware, which consists of 15 power phases with DR.MOS 50-amp circuits. Keeping thermals in check is also aided by a pair of small fans attached to the topmost heatsink and a metal heatpipe that runs between the two.

2.ASRock B360

Features

OUR TAKE

It nixes overclocking and multi-card graphics support, but adds integrated USB 3.1 Gen2 abilities while–in theory at least–making for more-affordable motherboards.

The ASRock Fatal1ty B360 Gaming K4 we’re looking at here, however, falls flat primarily because of pricing. For just  more, the ASRock Fatal1ty H370 Performance offers better connectivity and more PCIe bandwidth for graphics and speedy NVMe storage.

And for this B360 board’s asking price, you can even find a few alternatives with the flagship Z370 chipset, giving you all the features that B360 takes away.

3.ASRock X370 K4 FATAL1TY

Features

OUR TAKE

After taking a look at ASRock’s extremely well equipped X370 Taichi earlier this month today I will give ASRock’s Fatal1ty X370 Gaming K4 a close examination. The two motherboards have similar features, but the Taichi is priced higher because it carries some more features than the X370 Gaming K4. Today I will see exactly what the differences between the two motherboards are, and if it’s worth saving or spending.

ASRock came out of the gate quite strong with Ryzen launch. In fact, they are the only vendor to send us two motherboards. The reason for the Ryzen motherboard shortage is because of chipset shipment schedules, so as times goes on I am sure we will receive more samples and motherboards like the Taichi will come back into stock.

That being said, the fact that ASRock was able to send two is because of their resource allocation, they are betting strongly on Ryzen, and their large product lineup makes that obvious.

4.ASRock AB350

Features

OUR TAKE

We have reviewed many X350 chipset motherboards, but today we are reviewing our first B350 chipset motherboard. The B350 chipset is much less expensive than the X370 chipset, and while it still retains a lot of the features of the X370 chipset, it is a bit cut down. For starters, there is no support for more than one PCI-E x16 slot connected to the CPU, so you can’t do SLI.

It has two less PCI-E 2.0 ports from the chipset, four less USB 3.0 ports, and two less SATA6Gb/s ports. The good news is that the chipset supports overclocking and provides two USB 3.1 ports just like the X370 chipset. For many people, the B350 chipset might be better than the X370 because of the cost savings, so let’s see how good of a B350 motherboard the AB350 Gaming K4 is

5.Asus H110I-PLUS

Features

OUR TAKE

The Asus H110I-PLUS uses the Intel LGA 1151 CPU socket. Any compatible Intel CPU will have the same socket entry. It uses the DDR4 memory type, with maximum speeds of up to 2133 MHz, and 0 DDR4 slots allowing for a maximum total of 32 GB RAM.

The Mini-ITX form factor is common for low-power system builds. Lower power requirements allow for less cooling, which in turn means a quieter PC. As such, the Asus H110I-PLUS may be ideal for activities that require minimal sound excess, such as watching movies. For a gaming PC, a traditional ATX form factor is recommended, which would be more generally compatible and would provide more expansion options than Mini-ITX, but Mini-ITX is still a solid choice.

The Asus H110I-PLUS has 4 SATA 3.0 hard drive slots. These allow for theoretical data transfer speeds of up to 6GB/s, as opposed to the 3GB/s of SATA 2.0. Generally speaking, only high performance hard drives, specifically solid-state drives, will be able to take advantage of the bandwidth potential of SATA 3.0 ports, though it is backwards compatible, so you do not have to take advantage.

WRAP UP

Best z270 Motherboards Under 200 –  While Coffee Lake has been released you may find a lot of value in purchasing a new or used Kaby Lake CPU. These are still a solid option for gaming work. We’ll be reviewing a few compatible motherboards from $150 to $200 that we’d recommend if you’re wanting to overclock your “k” series processor.

While there are other Intel Kaby Lake chipsets that work with these processors (B250, Q250, H270, and Q270) only the Z270 allows for overclocking your CPU, GPU, and RAM. Older Skylake motherboards like the Z170 are compatible with these motherboards with a BIOS update.

Still, if you’re building a new PC, you’ll likely want to go with the newer chipset in order to get the latest technology that both Intel and manufacturers have added on to these boards.
